Motorized Machines

Ages: 6-9

Motorized Machine classes allows student to work as young scientists, engineers and designers. In these classes, students will design and build motorized machines.  They will make observations and then test how their models perform, re-design and then retest. Students collaborate in building their models by each building a subset, then combining them to create a complete model.

What will your child learn in this class?

  • Teamwork
  • Develop understanding of engineering designs
  • Making reasonable estimates
  • Estimating and measuring distance, time, weight and mass
  • Data handling
  • Logical thinking

Our teachers will guide students through each build and challenge them think. Classes are kept small so each students gets the most out of their experience.

Class will meet once a week for an hour and a half and each class will be limited to 10 students (5:1 student to teacher ratio). If students miss a class there are no makeups.

Simple & Motorized Machines: Learn about simple and compound machines with builds that perform different tasks.  Students will be asked to make assumptions and hypothesis about how each build will perform.  This is a 12 week class.  Three installments of $138.

Super Fun Powered Machines: Students will continue to explore simple and compound machines with new, super fun, models.  Change models to perform better based on what they learn about different types of forces (friction, gravity, magnetic and more).    This is a 12 week class.  Three installments of $138.
