robot

Robotics Lab is a great opportunity for your child to build real-life robotic solutions using LEGO NXT robots from LEGO Education. Students from grade 4 and up will explore the engineering process to design, build and program their robot to perform every day tasks.

What will your student learn?

Through LEGO Robotics Lab, students learn numerous skills including:

  • Design and Construction
  • Computer Programming
  • Problem Solving
  • Trial and Error
  • Team Work
  • Critical Thinking

How does Robotics Lab work?

Students in Robotics Lab will work through a series of challenges where they will design, build, program and test their robot.  Students are encouraged to think “outside the box” when developing their solutions.  Challenges include following a specified path, moving objects to a certain location, identifying objects and returning them to home base.

Students will work individually, or in pairs, to develop a solution for each task.  Once they feel they have it completed, they will be tested and if they pass, they will continue on to the next challenge.  Students love the challenge, and rush, they feel when they complete a task.

We want our students to understand that you won’t always succeed the first time.  What you need to do is analyze what went wrong, and then either change your design, or change your program…that is truly the engineering process (design, build, test, refine).

Students from beginner to expert can join Robotics Lab anytime during the year and continue as long as they like. Robotics Lab will meet once a week for an hour and a half and each class will be limited to 10 students (maximum 5:1 student to teacher ratio).

Getting Started

Tuition is $138 per month (every 4 weeks of lab).  An initial commitment of 3 months is required and then the commitment will be on a month to month basis (2 weeks, written notice to withdrawal from the class).

Robotics Lab will meet every Saturday from 5:30 to 7 pm.  If you are interested in the LEGO Robotics Lab for your student, and have additional questions, please contact us at the Knowledge Center at 913-897-6284.  If you want to reserve your spot you can click on the “Enroll Now” link below.
